Many ministry leaders, students, and even pastors wonder if planning a summer camp is beneficial for church groups and organizations. This post is a quick summary of a few short thoughts I have on this topic.

Why Summer Camp?
Summer Camp is the perfect opportunity for students to encounter a relationship with God. Think about the impact it will have on your students! Years down the road they will look back on their camp experience and say, “Wow, God is real. He changed my life. I know this, because when I was a student I met Him that summer I went to camp.” Camp is a life-changing event that can positively alter a student forever. It provides an environment where young people can disconnect from the routine and pressures of everyday life, and clearly hear personally from God. It’s where students have the opportunity for that monumental, defining experience that changes the very direction of their life.
Camp is so worth it! It changes the lives of the students forever, but camp week is hard, right!?! It’s a week of no sleep, terrible beds, lots of sweat, drama, physical demands that push your limits, drama, behavioral issues, DRAMA; the list is endless!!!! YET, to be a part of watching God change the life of a student; that’s our WHY! That’s why, as leaders, we make the sacrifice of summer camp! We take students to camp to see them accept Christ, rededicate their lives to Him, and get on the right track spiritually.
Summer Camp provides …
Opportunities to Develop Stronger Relationships
Real Discussions
Foundation for their Future
Time in the Word and Prayer
Personal Growth
Memories / Friendships
Character and Team Building
Opportunity to Unplug from Technology
Positive Attitudes
Loads of Fun
We all know ministry is relational. As leaders, we have to build healthy relationships with students, and camp is one of the best opportunities to do that. So many relationships are built and strengthened at summer camp. We have one life to live and one life to give. Let’s make a difference with the life God has given us and reach this generation!
